The performer traverses a bridge with two vintage suitcases, walking and dancing, and passes a suitcase to a fellow ’traveler.’ A conversation ensues, prompting the participant to consider age, place, time, and presence, creating history as we walk.

With suitcase in hand, Life Traveler is an immersive, interactive, and durational piece of dance and conversation, allowing pedestrians to pause and reflect on their presence in the midst of their life in motion: an invitation to contemplate the present moment, age, and journey.

Choreographed by Jody Oberfelder in collaboration with dancers Mark Willis, Mei Yamanaka, Daniel Morimoto, Maya Orchin, and Vanessa Knouse, Rube G brings to lights how things and people both connect and fall apart. The dance and music are inspired by Rube Goldberg, the object artist and inventor. The twenty-minute preview of the fuil-evening length work includes an original score by Frank London playing live with musicians Sae Hashimoto, Brian Drye, and Ron Caswel

The Philadelphia Fringe Festival is a 4-week long, city-wide celebration of innovation and creativity in contemporary performance. Each September, the Festival explodes into every nook and cranny of Philadelphia with more than 1,000 artistically daring performances, including national and international performances curated by FringeArts, and works that are produced by independent artists and promoted by FringeArts.

Jody Oberfelder Projects presents Amphitheater, a joyous world premiere of live dance of four dancers of JOP and music by grammy award winning trumpeter Frank London, challenges the pending demolition of this 50-acre park that transformed Lower Manhattan more than 80 years ago. Performed on the summer solstice, the premiere is one of the many events around the world for Fête de la Musique and MAKE MUSIC NY, a global festival to encourage free live music and art to fill public spaces. Additionally, the program will open with a poem by Eileen Myles and a land acknowledgement by Emily Johnson.

The rain date will be June 22nd.

Jody will lead an improvisation and physical imagination workshop at San Diego Dance Theater.
